Slugs and What to Do if they Attack
Tell-Tale Signs of Slugs
You may have a slug infestation if large holes are chewed in your plants' fruit or leaves, or the entire leaves are sheared from the stems. You'll see silvery trails wind around on the plants and soil nearby. The easiest time to spot slugs is at night, when they most often move around, feeding on plants. They are brown or gray, up to 2" long, and look like a snail without a shell. They develop slowly and can live a year or more. Slug eggs are laid in jellylike masses under debris in damp areas.
