Product Description

This beautiful berry isn't a true blueberry, but the flavors are on par with one another, and better yet, it doesn't need acid soil to thrive. It also isn't a bush--it's a deciduous tree that grows 15-16' tall! Saskatoon berries are small, round and incredibly sweet, ranging in color from violet-red to black for a beautiful rainbow of colors when it yields its crop in July. Its beautiful gray-green foliage is multi-stemmed, and will turn yellow and red in the fall. Saskatoon berries will continue to ripen after they are picked. Fully mature berries are sweeter, with a fuller fruit flavor, but are softer and more easily damaged. The mature bushes sport charming white flowers each spring. Saskatoon berries are a better source of calcium than red meats, vegetables and cereals. No pollinator is required, but for higher fruit yields, plant 2 or more Saskatoon trees in your yard. Self-pollinating. Zones 2-7. 12-18" bareroot. Saskatoons are native to North America, growing wild from Alaska to Maine.
