Red Velvet Leaf Lettuce

Heavily ruffled, deep rosy-pink leaves tinted with green add wonderful color to salads and sandwiches. A looseleaf variety, Red Velvet Leaf Lettuce forms loose heads and has a mild flavor. Slow to bolt, this variety exhibited no disease problems in our trial garden. Because it's so ornamental, Red Velvet is ideal for planting in flower beds and containers. This easy-to-grow vegetable can be grown in the spring or fall garden. Lettuce seed can be directly sown into the soil. 50 to 55 days to maturity.
