This raspberry has it all—big flavor, big berries, big yield, disease resistance and beauty. Excellent flavor made Crimson Night the runaway favorite in our test gardens. This dark red-purple fruit can be enjoyed twice a year, and has a more compact growth habit in Northern climates, making it a good choice for containers. Self-pollinating, zones 4-8. PPAF

  • Botanical Name: Rubus occidentalis 'Crimson Night'
  • Season: Fall
  • Sun/Shade: Full sun to partial shade.
  • Height: 5-8 feet
  • Spacing: 4-5 feet
  • Zone: 4 - 8
  • Spread: 4-5 feet
  • Foliage: Medium green foliage.
  • Depth: Dig a hole twice the size of the pot the plant is in. Plant at the same depth as it was in the pot.
  • Fruit: Excellent flavor, firm, juicy, medium-large, conical. Beautiful, shiny, dark red-purple fruit.
  • Soil Preference: Organic, well-drained, slightly acidic, sandy, loamy soil.
  • Pruning: It is only necessary to prune dead, thin, crossing, and diseased branches. For easiest maintenance, the plant can be mowed down to ground level in early spring. However, this will result in losing the first crop of berries in early June, The second crop of berries will still develop in late summer to frost.
  • Flowers: White flowers.
  • Pollinator: Self pollinating.
