Product Description
One of the best artichokes for home gardeners! Older artichoke varieties can take multiple seasons to produce what you get in just one season with Imperial Star, with 3 times the yield! The globe-shaped artichokes are delicious in dips and other dishes—and the thornless plants make picking easy. Growing 3-4 ft. tall, the plants are very ornamental, making them a good choice for the edible landscape, or even planting in flowerbeds. They also support pollinators. In most parts of the country, gardeners start artichoke seeds indoors and transplant the seedlings to the garden. 85 DAYS.

- Germination: 10 - 21 Days
- Days to Maturity: 85 - 85 Days
- Yield: Nearly 3 times the yield of older varieties - Green Globe had 6 - 10 buds per plant. Yields of 3 1/2 - 4 inch chokes (preferred by the fresh market) vary from 400 - 500 cartons per acre. Cartons average 23 lbs. each with 24 or 36 chokes per carton.
- Fruit: Primarily green globes can have some purple tinting.
- Growth Rate: Medium growth rate.
