Hazelnut

Want to grow nut trees, but have limited space? The Hazelnut Tree, also called the American Filbert Tree, is a great option. Growing 10-15 feet tall with a rounded, shrublike habit, the Hazelnut Tree can be grown as an informal hedge or landscape plant. Its fiery red fall foliage is very ornamental—and the trees produce easy-to-crack nuts that are delicious for fresh eating and cooking. Hazelnuts are harvested from September to October. Two Hazelnut trees are required for pollination. Requires 700-1,000 chill hours. Plant in full sun to partial shade. Zones 4-8.
