Product Description
Encapsulated Earthworm Cocoons from Gardens Alive!® are convenient and easy to add to your garden soil. Plant them in garden soil just as you'd plant ordinary seeds, or choose to hatch them indoors and transplant to the garden later. Each cocoon contains 1-10 eggs, depending on the species, and each egg will produce one earthworm. Great for gardens and compost piles, earthworms are cold-hardy and easy to establish. They're the greatest living natural soil boosters for a number of reasons:

  • their castings boost nitrogen in the soil.
  • they move deep-soil nutrients closer to roots
  • their tunnels loosen soil, improving aeration
  • their activities help soil particles bond, balancing moisture retention and drainage
  • Earthworms perform this same magic in compost, speeding the development of nutrient-dense, moisture-dispersing humus.
  • The earthworms are fully grown in 2-3 months. This makes a fun project for kids and adults!
