Product Description
Good news for Northern gardeners! Early Contender lets you start the fresh bean season a week earlier. This vigorous bush bean begins producing well ahead of most varieties, bearing an abundance of stringless pods that reach 6-8 inches long. The beans cook up nicely, becoming tender and full of fresh flavor. Plus, Early Contender freezes and cans like a champ--with absolutely no loss of bean quality. Since it requires only a short season to mature, you can easily make it a fall crop. Exhibits excellent resistance to common diseases and tolerates the heat well. Bush plants are upright and strong--no staking needed. Prefers full sun and well-drained soil. 49 days to maturity.
