Tomatoes

Tomatoes are high in antioxidants and vitamins A and C which help fight off heart disease and cancer. Lycopene gives tomatoes their beautiful red color and is known for its ability to protect cells and maintain proper cholesterol levels.

Fun Fact

If you've ever tasted a freshly-picked tomato right from the garden, we don't have to tell you why you should grow your own—the taste and texture speak for themselves! But did you know that growing your own tomatoes allows you to try a wide variety that you'd never find in a store? That's because tomato varieties grown for stores is often limited to those types that do well in transportation. Grow your own to experience tastes and textures like never before-from tomatoes allowed to remain on the vine until fully ripe and delicious!

Can you grow tomatoes in a container?

Grow tomatoes right on your patio in our Grow Tub® 15 Gallon Container.

What is the best type of fertilizer for growing tomatoes?

Tomatoes Alive!™ Fertilizer is a blend of fast and slow release ingredients that provides the nourishment your tomato plants need for steady, healthy growth and increased yields!

Tomato pests and diseases

Typically, no sprays are required for our tomatoes but the Tomato Hornworm can sometimes be a problem. Remove easily by hand by looking for missing leaves and stems at the tops of each plant and large, dark droppings on leaves. Otherwise, spray with Green Step II™ Caterpillar Control. For areas with high incidents of Septoria Leaf Spot and Blight, try our preventative spray, Soap-Shield™ Flowable Liquid Copper Fungicide.
