Squash - Winter
There's nothing like a squash patch bursting with tasty fruit in summertime--but what about those winter squash we love? Butternut squash, spaghetti squash, and all your favorite winter squashes are easy to grow and easy to store for months of enjoyment. For best results, plant your winter squash in early spring, and set another round in the soil in June or July. Winter squash is ready to harvest when the skin is hard and the stem has dried out. Cut the squash from the vine with a sharp knife, leaving a short stem attached, and cure for several days before storing.
