Love this mat
I have used this mat material in 3 different geographical locations, and it's effective and NOT PLASTIC
We bought the heavy weight version years ago to put in our garden between the rows. It does fray on the cut ends, but it works AMAZINGLY well. Holds up to foot traffic and doesn't hardly let any weeds through. Last year, we increased the garden size and decided to use some old weed barrier from the big name hardware store. Wishing we hadn't. It didn't stop one single weed from growing. The only weed free area of the garden was where this fabric was down. We are in Michigan and put it down in May-June, take up in late August and store through the winter. We've been using the same stuff for about 10 years. It is amazing and well worth the price.
I bought this barrier mat to put under our bird feeders hanging from a crape myrtle. Before i put the mat down we had squirrels that would come and climb the tree and eat from the feeders. After putting down the barrier mat the squirrels appear to be afraid of it and haven't gotten near the feeders. I wasn't trying to keep the squirrels away but I know some people want to keep them away. However, I love the way the mat looks under my feeders and am looking forward to not messing with weeds.
"I was desperately looking for better weed barrier than is found at the local garden shops which when I water my raised beds I found that only a fraction of the water gets through the landscape material, most of it runs to the downhill edge of the box. When I laid in the GardensAlive weed barrier I immediately noticed the smooth evenly distributed ""pass through"" action across the entire weed barrier with my drip irrigation oses laying on top of the weed barrier."
