With their extra sweet flavor and large size, these onions are a favorite of home cooks. The perfect onion for onion rings, salads and sandwiches, the mild flavor stays sweet even when cooked. Short day variety grows well in areas with a mild winter climate. 160 days to maturity.

  • Zones: 3-9 annual
  • Spacing: Set plants out with a four inch spacing. Should you want to harvest some of the onions during the growing season as green onions, you may plant the plants as close as two inches apart. Pull every other one, prior to them beginning to bulb, leaving some fo
  • Depth: Approximately one inch deep
  • Sun/Shade: Full Sun
  • Soil Preference: Well drained, humus enriched soil.
  • Days To Maturity: 160 days
  • Seed Counts: 2 bunches (one bunch of plants contains 55 - 75 plants)
  • Comments: Early short day onion. Uniform, thick flat shape with small necks. Golden yellow globes that have great holding retention when compared to other yellow granex types. Sweet tasting flesh that is ideal for onion rings or to sweet'n any burger or sandwich. One of the best onions to grow if your interested in large size onions.

I harvested these onions a month ago. If you following the instuctions sent with the plants you will have a nice sweet, yet spicy onion!!! Very tasty!!!

Bulbed up and harvested late May--not very sweet yet, but hopefully will increase that quality in storage, as so many of this type do.....will definitely try this variety again next year...(and the squirrels didn't eat them......)
