Product Details

One of the best every rhubarb varieties for flavor, Red Rhubarb is sweet yet agreeably tart, producing ample yield of pleasingly plump, crimson stalks. Perfect for your famous rhubarb pie! Zones 3-8 (plus zone 2 with some winter protection).

  • Zones: 3 - 8 (-50° F.).
  • Height: 24 inches
  • Spacing: 24 inches apart in rows 3 - 4 ft apart
  • Depth: Plant at the same depth as in the pot.
  • Spread: 24 inches
  • Sun/Shade: Full sun to partial shade.
  • Soil Preference: Well-drained, rich, loamy soil that is fortified with compost or well-rotted manure. PH between 5.0 and 7.0.
  • Pruning: Remove any flower stalks that grow.
  • Foliage: Green leaves on top of crimson-red stalks.
  • Flowers: Flowers that grow in 2 - 6 ft stalks should be removed.
  • Fruit: Produces ample yields of pleasingly plump, crimson stalks.
