Product Details

The berries of Patriot are larger and firmer than most, with the plant producing up to 20 lbs. of berries per season. The low-to-the-ground, spreading bush also makes an excellent landscape choice, with leaves turning colors in autumn. 18-30" bareroot. Zones 3-7.

  • Zones: 3 - 7 (-30° F.).
  • Height: 4 - 6 feet.
  • Spacing: 4 - 6 feet.
  • Depth: Plant at the same depth as in the nursery.
  • Spread: 5 feet.
  • Sun/Shade: Full sun.
  • Soil Preference: Acidic, moist, organic, well-drained soil. pH should be 4.5 to 5.5.
  • Pruning: Blueberries should be pruned during the winter while the bushes are dormant. In Winter, flower buds are easily visible on one-year-old wood and their numbers can be adjusted by pruning to regulate the crop load for the coming year.
  • Pollinator: Self pollinating. Another highbush variety will increase yields.
  • Yield: Approximately 10 - 20 pounds at maturity.
  • Color: White flowers.
  • Foliage: Rich green leaves.

  • Fruit: Tight clusters of large, slightly flat, medium blue berries.
  • Growth Rate: Medium growth rate.
  • Size: 1/4 inch blossoms.
  • Comments: Highbush blueberry. Fruit is firm, if weather is not too hot. Small, dry recessed scar on fruit. Resistant to phytophthora. Tolerates wet or clay soils well. Red wood. Very vigorous.
