Seeds sown indoors should be started 5-7 weeks before the date the plants are to be set out. Maintain a temperature of 70-75 degrees Fahrenheit in a sterile seed starting medium. Areas with cold winters, seeds can be directly sown into the grown in midsummer for a fall crop. In Zone 8 and warmer, sow seeds early fall for a winter crop. Fertilize prior to planting with an all purpose fertilizer and again every 4 weeks. Cultivate to keep weeds down. Harvest when heads are well formed and firm. Cabbage is hardy and will withstand considerable frost. If head begins to burst, push plant to side to sever part of the root system. Plants take up fewer nutrients and problems will be controlled. Heads can burst if weather is too hot.

Really Nice!
Dec 3, 2013  |  By Andy H
We have grown and eaten this variety for many years. Great early season cabbage that grows really well. Great taste whether eaten raw, fried, or cooked. This one is really hard to beat and very hardy against the cold. Does not do as well in the heat but is great in very early spring to late fall. Excellent! Really Nice!
