- Friday, April 18, 2014 Treating Fire Blight Reviewed By: Mike Markley (Castalia, Ohio) Several years ago our crabapple trees were stricken with Fire Blight. I started to researce how to theat this condition. I found that Flowable Copper Soap Shield was recomended for treating this condition. Since the trees already had Fire Blight I had to cut out the damaged branches, it was mostly on the new growth. After I removed these areas I treated the trees with Soap Shield and it settled down the first year. Now each spring I continue treat the trees as instructions prescribe. This has given me great results. I have had no trouble with Fire Blight since.
Mike - Thursday, July 15, 2010 soap makes a difference Reviewed By: ken (lincoln, ne) We've used various sprays for several years including copper powder mixed with water. The copper definately works the best. In 09 we used the soap shield and and saw a big difference in how long the tomato plants stayed healthy. This year looks same as last so far. The plants look great going into the hot part of summer.
