Choose snowy white, or the more richly flavored tan variety. Simply water the pre-inoculated medium inside the container, then place in a cool, dark location.

Comments: The Giant Kit, 07766, contains twice as much compost, as the Standard Kit, 07764. The more compost, the more mushrooms you will get. The Standard yields about 3 lbs., the Giant yields about 6 lbs.

Disappointing.....

I am completely disappointed in the mushroom kit. After following the instructions to the letter, we haven't had one mushroom. I agree with other reviews, you could buy a lot of mushrooms at the store for the price of the kit. Waste of money!!!

Not Worth The Money

I followed all directions carefully and got only 3 mushrooms. They were huge and delicious, but not worth the cost of the kit. I wrote to gurney's and they sent me another kit. I followed all directions again and this time got none. Definitely not worth it.

It is ok if you like the hobby of growing mushrooms. The kit worked as advertised, but the difference in home grown and store bought mushrooms in a recipe is hard to tell. It is not like growing fresh tomatoes, peppers, or squash. For the price of the kit you can buy a lot of mushrooms at the store.
