Description:
Adult moth has 1/2–3/4" wingspan.
Back part of tips of front wings have large chocolatebrown
patches; remainder is covered with wavy, light
gray and brown lines. Larvae are white/pink; grow to
3/4" long. The moths prefer apples, pears, crabapples,
walnuts and peaches. Larvae bore straight into the
center of the fruit to feed on the seeds. They keep the
tunnel open by pushing brown excrement “pellets”
out the entrance. Damage is usually extensive and
can infest 100% of the fruit on a tree.
